After purchasing and re-launching Beats Music, Apple is pulling the plug on the streaming service. Come Nov. 30th, Beats Music will be no more, according to a statement.

Users will be able to transfer their music over to Apple Music as all subscriptions will be cancelled.

Apple bought Beats Music back in April of 2014 for $3 billion and relaunched it in June 2015. Beats founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine later joined the Apple family and helped develop Apple Music. Beats Music’s standout quality was that it featured playlists curated by your favorite artists. According to the statement, this feature will be transferred over to Apple Music.

“All the pros that curated music for you are still crafting more amazing experiences. Plus, on Apple Music, you’ll get even better recommendations based on music you already listen to and love, 24/7 global radio with Beats 1, exciting material from your favorite artist, and more.”

Apple Music has 8.5 million users, with 6.5 million of them being paying subscribers.

Here’s what will happen.

Apple is set to shutter its Beats Music service on Nov. 30 in a bid to push customers to use Apple Music.

The tech giant will cancel subscriptions to Beats at the end of the month, although users can transition their music preferences to Apple Music AAPL -2.10% , which was launched in June.

“On Apple Music, you’ll get even better recommendations based on music you already listen to and love, 24/7 global radio with Beats 1, exciting material from your favorite artist, and more,” wrote Dale Bagwell, an Apple executive, on Beats Music’s website.

The subscription for Apple Music is $10 per month for an individual and $15 per month for a family. There is a free three-month trial for new users to the service.

Bagwell directed consumers to Apple Music’s page, which includes instruction on how to move over to the streaming service.

In October, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the service had 15 million subscribers. The goal is to one day up it to 100 million.

Apple purchased Beats last May for $3 billion after weeks of speculation. The music streaming service and headphone maker was founded in 2008 by rapper Dr. Dre and music producer Jimmy Iovine.

I bet this was their plan all along.

I wonder if they're still going to drop the droid version...sounds like they aren't.
Hope they don't, android users use a different part of the brain and still use windows pc based systems. Apple or nothing.
