Aqib Talib says his facemask penalty was ‘on purpose’
Early in the game, a storyline was defensive back Aqib Talib’s person fouls. The first one involved him taunting a Carolina Panthers player right in front of his head coach Gary Kubiak. The second penalty saw him nearly rip the head off of wide receiver Philly Brown by his facemask.
Despite winning the Super Bowl, Talib felt he had to voice his frustrations about the penalties he took during the game.
According to Doug Kyed of NESN, Talib said he committed the second foul on purpose.
To nearly take the head off a player just to make a point to the referees is not a good way to go about things.
