When did reggae become the most popular music?

I hope the Hell you are not claiming Rap music, because that music is out of the Kingdom of Mali just like the Blues. It is from the Griots that is how they recorded history and remembered family lineages.

Don't take a music history course brehs. Don't ever learn shyt about your ancestors brehs. Don't realize that James Brown was doing Hip Hop and rapping in the 1960's and 1970's brehs. :francis:

Cold hard facts. He tried it tho :mjlol: A majority of Hip Hop’s elements are of Southern Black American origins anyway. Even if Hip Hop was allegedly created by a Jamaican, it’s still heavily African American in its core and essence.

Country music too. It was the ancestors that brought the banjo to America from the Senegambia region.

Foreign nikkas really don't understand the history of Hip Hop and how every element of it is 100% African American, esp the actual rapping and instrumentals. You ain't even got to take it back to Mali. AA preachers and pimps, slave chants, AA poets, James Brown, Rudy Ray Moore, all of the other funk spitters from the 70s. "Aye let me rap to ya young blood!" fukk nikkas think the word rap mean and where it come from. Hip Hop has absolutely Jack shyt to do with Jamaicans. It's a little frustrating that they don't understand our history.

Yes, probably. Or at least a big part of it. But how can people who have never been to these places or even outside the US speak on whats going on there on behalf of these countries?

All Thats Good Within Thee World
Trendsetters is an understatement. Black Americans are known universally to get treated poorly and struggle yet still prosper. A majority of people on the globe is struggling so they look to us for hope and we provide it through sports and entertainment. They just handle the economics part of our prosperity better.

used to be :ohlawd:

it stopped in 2003 with the velour suits and cornrows with the bamboos, then it changed into following white people with ed hardy and von dutch with paris hilton and them. soft dudes like kanye helped the follower trend rick owens, skirts, etc.

AAs havent been deemed cool for just over a decade, its still declining but with that new black panther joint who knows but fashion is the most important way to tell influence and AAs just been following since like 2003.
