I think if our ancestors who were forced labor in this country saw how we live now they would collectively slap us for using the word "slave". We are not slaves.

We are very much unequal (in rights and privileges) and systemically oppressed, but using the word slave is an insult to our history.

From the safety and comfort of the 21st century, Black people will casually reference and make comparisons to PERMANENT HEREDITARY CHATTEL SLAVERY.

Its absolutely an insult.
