Not slaves, but still not equals under this country's system. And the progressions our people fought for to try and get close to equal are actively being stripped away.

I think if our ancestors who were forced labor in this country saw how we live now they would collectively slap us for using the word "slave". We are not slaves.
We are very much unequal (in rights and privileges) and systemically oppressed, but using the word slave is an insult to our history.
