Are cops allowed to just BE on your property, like your backyard?

I go to brush my teeth, and see the motor sensor lights on in the driveway. I look outside, and the cops are in my neighbor’s backyard spying on the people in the yard of the house behind them.

It’s not my yard, but are the police supposed to do that?

Yes and No. Yes, as long as they don't violate the curtilage, and No, they have no right to step foot on your property without a warrant.

I will never say that cops are not needed because without SOME semblance of order, society would collapse

However I hate the fraternity like culture of cops. I was around some recently and they didn't notice me and were talking freely laughing and joking about cases, making fun of folks, really came off like some college frat bullies or something
