Update on this:
The people that were let go, were not just laid off. Those were terminations. Their roles have been eliminated from the company completely, which tells me this had to be in the works for some time before this. There's no way one week of bad sales causes you to terminate >25% of your workforce in a single day. Feels like it just sped up the process.
We just got the follow up e-mail too. On top of the reduction in work force, they will be reducing our work schedule via unpaid furlough. So, we might not be completely fired but a lot of our asses won't be making money for a while depending on when they decide to follow through on that.
Also, they killed the 401k match. Disgusting

Yep, Corona is giving corporations cover to do massive layoffs and restructuring they couldn't do in normal times without blowback.

The immoral global scam and mass murder of the middle class is real fam.

Well the ‘08 housing crisis showed that companies could make workers do more with less people. Then jobs couldn’t hire enough people and the tables flipped. This is just the latest iteration of that at a larger scale. It’s the flux of supply and demand. Once things go back to normal (hopefully ) then the supply of jobs will once again outstrip the available labor.

Idk, but what United Airlines did was heinous. No way they should have gotten a bailout, then turn around still announce layoffs.

at the end of the day, the "tax cut" from 2016 is apart of this. they were starting to lay off people last year in the summer.
this just sped up the process.
