people are shytting on the FF demo like there's no tomorrow :russ: there's really no incentive for devs to make a free demo. its better for them to keep people in the dark and just release the game when its ready. if anything, a demo will turn a lot of folks off the game. people just like to whine about shyt and will nitpick every little thing

Demos and Early Access are bad when given freely to the masses. Beta testing has the same issues, they are meant to help developers by targeting a larger scale who can find bugs and ways to improve the game, than what the in-house QC department can. People expect full top of the line products at that point and can kill any hype the game had.

PC MMO'S took a beating on this year's ago.

Demos are a terrible idea nowadays. As you said, people find a way to complain about everything.

If 'The Godfather' came out today, people would be on some:

The movie is too long:russell:

There is too much talking, not enough action:russell:

Michael Corleone is a bland character:russell:

Why did they include the scenes of him in Italy, it ruins the pacing and should have been left out:russell:

The cast is too big:russell:

Did I mention the movie was too long?:russell:

Not a good idea. The idea of the demo is the ultimate pro but the ultimate con. It gives the consumer an idea what they'll be getting into before even buying it.

The company would rather make you pay full price for the game instead of letting you test the game out for free.

A demo is only a good idea if your game is relatively unknown and you want to generate some good word of mouth. If you already have an established property all a demo is going to do is convince people who were going to buy your game to hold off.
