i don't get this delusional belief that light-skinned "mixed" blacks like myself are treated differently than dark-skinned "pure" blacks. that's bullshyt. we get treated the same in stores, followed just the same by racist ass clerks (some of whom are self-hating blacks trying to keep their jobs). we get profiled by police just the same, pulled over at no less of frequency than "pure" dark-skinned blacks. white people make the same racist assumptions about us that they do "pure" dark-skinned blacks.

They may not have been on equal footing with whites, but there's a lot of grey area there.. they were certainly treated better than the "pure' black counterparts in numerous ways. They were the preferred caste. They were thought to be more intelligent, more industrious and more attractive overall. They were generally "house slaves" , and even at times they inherited wealth and land from their own fathers who raped their slave mothers.

Even HBCU's had discriminatory blue vein societies and entrance requirements before a lot of that shyt came to an end in the 60s (some of it is still around though)

All that "one in the same" talk is simply a lie...whether we're talking genetics or in mainstream social value.

House slaves had it way worse..they had to clean up vomit and shyt after a big party..they had to get ridiculed..field slaves had it way easier..all they did was pick cotton all day..and no..they didn't get whipped like in the movies..they would not get whipped if they did something wrong..they barely got whipped..I would rather be a field slave over a house slave any day..

Yeah, you just pulled that out of your arse. You've clearly never been. There are different shades of Black in West Africa, from those of a very light shade to those with darker hues. It really has nothing to do with being mixed. Hell, within my family it's apparent, with me being the darkest (quite dark, BTW) and my brother having the same hue as Usher. We are not step-brothers or anything of the sort. Now, imagine that effect expanded and extended amongst a wide range of peope and you might, perhaps, understand the wide range to be found in West Africa - and Africa as a whole, even.

thats completely false. the blackest part of africa is south sudan. and west africa has tribes like the igbo with super light skin people among them. i've heard of the fulani being mixed but never the igbo.
