Are most of us honest when a player outperforms our low expectations of them?

What is it about many in here where we find it difficult to admit a player we may dislike or expected to fail outplays our expectations?

For many in here, rather than admit they were wrong, they'd rather raise the bar from their initial expectations in order to save face and to satisfy their never can be wrong egos.

Plenty of players I thought would be trash have outplayed my expectations and I had to fall back and acknowledge so. I get it....it's hard to admit one can be wrong. But it's equally retarded to decide to stay stuck on stupid and raise the bar past the initial expectations one has for the player in question because your ego refuses to admit you were wrong.

This mentality seems to reflect the make up of most of the board.

Fanatics are like that. Building strawman arguments and fallacies to fit your world view. You are always entitled to your own opinions, you aren't entitled to your own facts. I love sports and I have my favorite teams but I'm never deluded enough to see the product on the field/court/etc... and think with my heart. Case in point, look at my posts in the Detroit Lions threads the past few years. I called that shyt fool's gold last season, which it was.I think with my head and with what my eyes tell me. I know what a championship team looks like, I know what dominant players look like. There is always the outlier but I'm fine with my judgements on players and teams since they are made devoid of emotion and it'd be better if others could do the same.

It's really annoying though.

Plenty of players I've thought would be bums who've gone on to shine. You just have to fall back sometimes. But the retarded love to :lift:at the process and at the end of the day, come off as bitter bytches wanting someone to fail.

Seems to make up most of AM white sports radio talk as well.

Most of these dudes opinions are based on whatever rhetoric the media has created about said player

You can tell dudes just watch highlights and read a couple of articles instead of actually watching the games then forming a opinion
Worst is the new trend of arguing sports talk on players they've never watched based on datamining. It's as if dudes are afraid to even form their own opinions on who they've watched.

How hard is it to admit you maybe wrong?

Some people are just miserable :yeshrug:. There is no other way around it. You can't be happy or content with life while investing energy in changing rules and moving goal posts just to shyt on certain people. nikkas try to act like it's just jokes and some of it indeed is but there is only so far you can take a joke. That and some people really just can't handle being wrong. When you have been wrong as many times as I have, it really isn't a big deal at a certain point.
