Are rappers scared to do collab albums because they might get outshined?

Everyone talks about collab albums like WTT, but that's the only commercial album that has come out in recent years with any moderate success.

Since then, rappers have talked about it but we're still waiting on another collab album yet no one has released anything.

Rappers are insecure as shyt (look at Kanye, he's ranting on twitter cause Kimmel made fun of him), no way they will release an album and get outshined. It's basically career suicide.

Before people give you misguided responses. It all boils down to money. Producer gets 50 percent publishing now the artist have to split the remaining 50 percent of the publishing. If samples, more splits. Solo albums, you choose unknown producers who aren't business savvy sell 10,000 records and make more money. When rappers talk that shyt, oh my schedule doesn't permit, they lying. Also factor in the managers, lawyers and labels that want a piece. This is the reason why their will never be a Nas/AZ album...this is the reason why we never will see many projects that we all wished for. Hey this is the reason why Blackstar, Outkast, Wu tang will probably never put out music...now the business out weighs the passion of making music. Peace

I heard of a possible K.Lamar and J.Cole album, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Yep.

It's why the hip hop group is essentially dead.

like what PaperEnterprise said... it all boils down to the business side of things.

more money to be split, more management to be dealt with, more hoops to jump through tbh
