Certain parts of the Midwest and South are similar. But let's be honest, certain parts are very different. Go near the Canadian border in Minnesota where you can see the Canadian influence and even hear the Canadian influence in the accents up there. Then ask yourself if that reminds you of the deep south, a la Mississippi. You'll see vastly different worlds there.
