I've been talking to some pretty insightful sisters lately. One calls herself a "feminist" but identifies with our struggle more than she realizes. Nonetheless me and her have some of the same grievances when it comes to whats going on within the black community. And she isn't the only one who expresses these opinions and thinks on a deeper level. Almost all of them expressed resentment for black men for our failure to step to the plate as men and control our communities.
Rarely (other than on the internet) do I find brothers whom are willing to express themselves and how they feel about the ongoing demise of the black community. If they do it's usually in a jokingly kind of way. And any kind of discussion usually ends in buffoonery. Now, I'm not dissing my fellow brothers because I know this doesn't apply to all of us. The internet validates this.
But why does it seem like sisters are more conscious than brothers? Or at least open to having a serious dialogue about issues. is it fear? Ignorance? And by conscious I don't mean the hotep kufi wearing negroes.
