Ricky Williams another guy that if they did a football hof not strictly nfl would get in
Was in and out of the league due to the weed and suspensions, yet still had 10,000 rushing yards. If he was fully committed to his pro career, he would've been in.

This has nothing to do with him being on the Patriots for a few years, but he's definitely in the Hall of Very Good at worst. One of my favorite HB's to watch. He had an awful OL and QB situation until he was traded to New England.

That counts for everyone else tho

Not advocating for first ballot

He def was a top 5 QB during a stretch. Let's not get out of hand

Truth be told the only cats who should be first ballot qbs playing today or not in yet are Tom, Brees, and eventually ARod
Mahomes is def first ballot

:jbhmm: How much weight does pro bowls add or should add to ones career resume?

I think voters will look at All-Pro/Pro Bowls….perhaps more when it comes to receivers because it’s so hard to compare to prior eras.

Receiving numbers have exploded due to factors such as the rule changes in 78’ and 04’….Volume stats for receivers (and QBs) are so much higher, so they may look at the All-Pro/Pro Bowl selections, or look at how they ranked annually in those stats.

And voters will look at it with offensive linemen due to the lack of stats for them.

There will always be players screwed out of selections, but voters will probably look at them as a guide to see how players are viewed in their era.

I don't think Stafford or Russ should get in but they both probably will (I feel the same way about Eli)

Stafford has padded his stats but when did folks really start considering him a HOF worthy qb

When you have the complexion, you always get the benefit of the doubt. If he pulls another SB out of his ass, he's def getting in. Plus cats give him a pass for being on the Lions. :francis:

He's also right on the line of the era where the passing games REALLY picked up. Im not gonna hate when he gets in, but def deserves some context

a lot of receiver and QB numbers are juiced since you can't touch QBs anymore and can't be physical and knock WRs the fukk out.

His 10 pro bowls is misleading though as he was a replacement pick for 5 out of the 10 selections. To me those should hold no weight. I don't think he gets in. He has the Super Bowl with two appearances. But only 1 all-pro. For that Super Bowl win the team was build on D and the run game more than being built around him. He was never dominant or consistently looked at as a top 5 QB. For every other position you had to be one of the elite to get in, yet with QB it seems we lower the bar and accept good to get in.
Sherm is Hall of Very Good.

If a breh like D. Woodson can't get in, Sherman definitely doesn't belong. His mouth and playing on a strong team is boosting his rep. A few more All-Pros or another ring would make him more of a lock.

He'll probably get in though.

I agree. If Sherm gets in, it’s because he was the most “famous” guy in the Legion Of Boom - even if he wasn’t the best.

I tell ya - if they do ever make a Hall Of Very Good - they should build it in Seattle.
Seahawks had a lot of guys on The Line.
