Strictly 4 My :flabbynsick: brehs who've been round the block a couple of times and know whats what:

For real I think the world is devolving.

If popular music speaks the thoughts of the time then most people now are simpletons full of lean, popping bottles in the club, pushing a whip and the three or four other tropes that get recycled into each manufactured hit. Plus all of the producers just reuse the same sounds, patterns, concepts again and again and just jock whoever is hot as they keep on churning out "classics" for people so drugged up they can't even remember they already bought the track last week.

Few people can hold a deep conversation. Barely anybody reads. People are real frail both physically and mentally and those that "look" strong are only faking the funk with all kinds of chemical shyt popping off to prop them up as they survive another 24. Attention spans are measured in milliseconds and everyone is begging for validation a hundred silent ways.

Maybe I'm just too old school with it but when we were coming up it was a different kind of vibe as you had to be real with it. Physically, mentally, spiritually you were forced to be on your A game at all times just to survive because every day was a test. Maybe the new kids have got it all to easy and don't have to struggle because life ain't like that any more or maybe the culture that was weaponized in our generation has now gone fully nuclear now and is just wiping indiviudality off the map by making people make bad decisions backed by a bad soundtrack because thats what they think is good in the moment because they lack any insight and don't think about consequences which leads to more wealth for the prison complex.

I often wonder how my life would've been if I wasn't wilding out to 90s rap when the gangsta wave came in because its there the seeds to now lie and along the way talent seems to have taken a real hit or maybe I'm just like those oldheads in my hood that said NWA ain't shyt compared to Rakim back in the day and that rap had taken a step backwards because they just couldn't relate because they weren't full of the drug of choice at the time and couldn't vibe to the new style.

Either way can you imagine what seeds this generation will raise and in turn what they will bring forth because we're living in strange times when those that can remember the REAL real know that whats real these days is fake or maybe thats just the way the game is played because people have been on that wave since back in the days:

"“It is no longer a question of imitation, nor duplication, nor even parody. It is a question of substituting the signs of the real for the real”"

The only thing progressing is technology.

And its doing so faster than our humanity. The second point of the argument is when you look at what all this tech (thats designed to be addictive) is doing to our brains because we've got iPhone baseheads everywhere and no one seems to notice the whole worlds been turned into fiends because they're too busy worshiping the connect and the next generation are all being raised by the screen so won't know life without it anyway.

When you come up with less you've gotta learn how to come up with more because being poor makes you mentally rich because you've got to think creatively just to be able to get ahead. Don't get me wrong, I'm not glorifying the hood because its as bad now as ever because grimy people do grimy things but that ingenuity that birthed hiphop, custom clothes, pimped out rides and all the other stuff that went worldwide will never happen because that spark is missing now as people wander around in the dark in the land of the blind...
