Are you going to buy a new console on launch date?

I'm coming to the realization that that might not be the best way to go in relation to how I play games. I'm going through dragon age inquisition now, I bought this damn game two years ago. I can't keep throwing games into the backlog and never get to them, that's kinda of hustling backwards.

Another point is that I feel like I got burned as an earlier adopter for damn near everything this gen. I have enough shyt to last me to when a mid gen hardware refresh comes out and I can easily buy the games I know I'll want in anticipation of newer hardware.

I don't know, I'm conflicted. For all I know, I might be there day one again and I may not. Where is everyone at on this?

If there’s something I feel I should buy it for, I’ll bite. Copped PS4 for updated 2k and infamous, and Switch for BOTW

With the way gaming is headed and PC gaming being so big I think I'll wait it out unless there's a must have within reason. With Google Stadia and PC gaming being available, there is no "next gen leap" to look forward to that'll only be available to new console adopters. I bought a PS4 for Knack and Killzone and honestly it was not necessary in hindsight. I could've waited. A Switch was also a impulse buy. I bought Zelda day one and only finished the main quest last July, a full year and change later. I bought Horizon Zero Dawn on launch which came out a few days before the Switch and I still haven't finished it yet.

Well lets see...

Last gen - I waited 4 yrs before I got a PS3.

Current gen - I waited 9 months before I copped a PS4 (I got it for $145 at GS)

With all the marketing tactics I've seen both Sony & MS pull by rolling out "upgraded consoles" mid-cycle, I'll be waiting if this is the new trend. I NEVER buy new consoles on launch date b/c both companies only put them out to sell and people buy them and then it's a some "bugs" in the systems. Another reason I don't buy at launch is there are few games to play. Most games are rehashed versions of games from last gen and it usually take a year for a new console to build it's library of new games.

Not this time. Got the PS4 day one and it's likely the least used console that I've owned. I simply don't have the time for it. Time issues will likely be the same if not worse when PS5 drops... So no point in me getting it day one.

I always wait until there's a minimum of 5 must-play games for me to buy a console but since the standard now is to release an upgraded version halfway into the console's lifespan, I'll be waiting even longer :hubie:

The cloud makes consoles obsolete tho so

And I feel the exact opposite ThisGen to what you saying because the original Xbox one was amazing. Let me remind you all what came then was forced out :snoop:

This whole cloud future was ready to go in 2013, the difference being instead of relying totally on the cloud alone it would use the cloud to assist the console. No need to have data centers ready worldwide because the data center would have been the network of Xbox's that was ALWAYS ONLINE. Fanboys said it couldn't improve graphics, assassin's creed on switch is better than switch quality but I digress...

I see commercials for patalon everyday, Xbox Fitness :to:

I'm watching Alexa voice controls tv and I'm like welcome to 2013 biiiiitch. Alexa, can you snap :usure:

I miss the old Xbox...
