US death row inmate Joseph Wood has died after an execution in Arizona took nearly two hours to kill him.

Wood, a double murderer, was executed by lethal injection.

His lawyers filed an appeal for an emergency stay of execution, after he had been "gasping and snorting for more than an hour" in the death chamber.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer says she has ordered a full review of the execution, although she said that Wood "died in a lawful manner".

Wood's lawyers argued the extended execution process violated his right to be executed in the absence of cruel and unusual punishment.

But Ms Brewer said: "By eyewitness and medical accounts he did not suffer. This is in stark comparison to the gruesome, vicious suffering that he inflicted on his two victims, and the lifetime of suffering he has caused their family."

Whattya gonna do brehs, it's a bumpy ride to hell. :manny:

The victims family didn't see it as cruel and unsual. Just saying :sas2:

Members of the Dietz family were in attendance in Arizona today. Jeane Brown, Debra Dietz's sister, said that Wood's execution "was nothing."

"You don't know what excruciating is--seeing your dad lying there in a pool of blood... This man deserved it," Brown told the Arizona Republic. "And I shouldn't call him a man. He deserved everything he had coming to him."

I don't condone the death penalty, except under extremely rare circumstances where it's 1000% provable someone committed whatever heinous crime merits death.

If it was 1000% provable he did it... sorry... I don't give a shyt that he suffered.

:yeshrug:

The only thing that saddens me is he committed the crime in 1989 and he's been sitting around on the taxpayer dollar for 25 years.

It doesn't matter whether you care that he suffered. Human experimentation and torture is banned both by internal laws in the United States and its treaty obligations

Is lethal injection more humane than a firing squad in situations where there are complications during the injection?

These weren't "complications", they literally don't have the drugs they need (because europe stopped sending the needed chemicals) and are just trying to invent sh1t to do the job in secret
