There will never be another match with such star power again. 5 true main eventers all in one match. Rikishi was the only one out of place. These days just about everyone is heel Rikishi-tier. Forced and unnatural.

Rikishi being in that match still kind of fukks it up for me, those are all GOAT level stars then you got Rikishi :beli:

The story of the match was real slick...everyone paired up at some point. Angle and Austin....Rock and Cripple H..Rock and Angle...Rikishi and Austin..Taker and Austin...of course it all led to the big showdown of when everyone was beaten and the Rock and Austin had the BIG FACE off as the crowd went nuts:laugh:

The "Who Ran Over Austin?" Storyline should have elevated a mid carder into main event status easily but I never thought it should have been Rikishi. Rikishi was over as a babyface so it was always weird that he just turned all of a sudden.

Listening to all the episodes of the Attitude Era Podcast you can tell WWF knew they fukked up turning Rikishi when they just had HHH become the mastermind on some "Rikishi was the wheelman.... BUT I MADE HIM DO IT!" like he's Purple Man or some shyt.

Gonna watch now, 99-2001 was when I enjoyed wrestling the most, missed plenty of years before and after that, became a big fan again When Punk and Bryan got hot. Completely missed times when Jericho, Guerrero, and Benoit were on top. Though Austin's heel turn was done horribly, gave up on E after that.

Only thing I Remember is the Rikishi bump.

If you go back and watch the original footage, it's obvious Triple H was behind it. It should've been Billy Gunn as the culprit with Trips as the mastermind. Since he wasn't with DX in the parking garage, I wonder if that was one of the original plans for that angle.

I never thought Rikishi was out of place in this match. He wasn't as big of a star as the other 5 but he was incredibly popular before the heel turn and I wish his main event push would of went on a bit longer. This is probably my favorite Hell In A Cell match. I don't know why they've never done a 6 man cell again. I guess the Elimination Chamber is kind of the same thing but no Chamber match ever had this much star power.

It seems like Vince wasn't sure if he should pull the trigger or not cause from Austin's return until the Royal Rumble he kept teasing Rock / Austin with those staredowns.

One of my all time favorite matches, and one of the more unique ones in WWE history. You never really see nonstop action in most WWE matches, usually it's more spot oriented, but in that one it was nonstop. One of the few matches you can watch and see something new every time.

Speaking of them, I listened to one podcast of theirs and once one of them revealed they didn't watch during the era and didn't know who Marc Mero was, I stopped taking them seriously.

From the moment Steve Austin returned in Sept 2000, of course it was always going to be Rock vs Austin at WM 17. They did subtle things for months...the unique face offs and Austin backing down for the FIRST TIME when he would threaten the Rock when he was asking about who ran him over. When I saw that before Rikishi was revealed..I said "Hmmm...that's different." Austin stunned the Rock when Rikishi said the Rock put him up to it and they basically had Austin nearly hiding the whole show while the Rock was trying to find him:laugh: When Rock got double teamed in the main event by Angle and Rikisihi, Austin made the save and the Rock dropped him with the Rock Bottom as they did the EXTREME close up as if the Rock was a now an arch villain who had Austin ran over:laugh:
