The Trump Chapter created it where Dems don't really have to be forward thinking or do much because "they are the better option than the outward Facist", and the GOP is held hostage in the fact that Trumps base is so rabid you fear retaliation of standing up or even debating internally the right wing ideology for the future (assuming they even want to be pragmatic).
The USA has been at a Political standstill/frozen for the last decade while the rest of the world is moving on and that simply isn't good for business.
