Twillight zone isn't hard sci-fi, fiction but not hard sci fi, there is horror, fantasy, and other genres.
X-files is sci-fi but its no where close to being on the level of a Star Wars or Star Trek.

Star Wars isn't truly hard sci-fi either. Its an adventure flick in space

Star Wars is sci-fi though, adventure and philosophical doesn't take one out of the realm of sci-fi.
Galaxy Quest is a sci-fi comedy, its still sci-fi like Star Trek, even though its a parody comedy.

Reboots make it a lot cooler and honestly are better movies than the star wars reboots to me.

I'll admit the last three Star Treks were piff, I knew they dumbed it down though to appeal to a wider audience.

Star Wars is not better or worse than Star Trek.. they're 2 sides of the same coin told through different points of view.
SW is more adventure action based while ST is character and story driven.. And because of the TV show format ST operates under the conflict and resolution is more directly spelled out

I was never a ST fan until 92 when I watched an episode of TNG and got hooked... I didn't think it was above I just wanted more action.

I grew up on Enterprise. Had to double back to the OG and well it's pretty fukking good as well. If you can sort through the worse effects and have an open mind. But I saw Star Wars as a 10 yr old and was like eh. What makes this franchise so renown. I get it Darth Vader is dope. Han Solo too. but what else. The gay butler? The garbage can that bleeps and bloops. I know one is mostly known for cinema and the other for TV. but in no way shape or form is Star Wars a better franchise.

The movie franchise vs. TV franchise was a major key in the perception of Star Wars "being better" but Star Trek is probably the more well thought out franchise.

Im actually a fan of both but they are different flavors one is action adventure the other more analytical and based on what could be a future for humanity if we continue to evolve.

Yeah I don't do the cosplay and the only anime I do is DBZ. But I've been into Star Trek since I was 6 or 7

the star trek show had a lot of deeper metaphors and social commentary, star wars is just pure entertainment. The SW films are better than the trek films objectively, quite easily. Although the '09 Star Trek reboot is fukking INCREDIBLE.
