I slept on that song far too long because the beat always sounded out of place next to the more popular songs on the album.

Well constructed joint from a technical standpoint, Quik is a master on the boards, so the beat is gonna knock regardless,, listen to the eq of the hi-hats an shakers, yeah it's cool it's just underwhelming.

Yeah, listening to this song on some nice speakers really shows how nice this beat is too

Only reason I think some say it's underwhelming is cause it's not the typical fonky Quik beat that you use too.
But Quik tailored made that beat for Jay cause it's what Jay wanted and somehow, he found a middle ground that worked for the both of them in my opinion

For ppl like my self, at the time the beat just came off too different and I would just automatically skip it. Even tho I realize now it's a dope track , I feel within the context of the album, ignorant shyt would've fit way better. Sound wise atleast.
