No local act in any state can compete with billion dollar corporations...

I think i read that Funk Flex was charging 5k for 1 SPIN..Which is obviously for local acts..:ehh:
Why do labels invest in Young Thug and not Mc so and so from the Bronx?

The shyt imploded. NY rappers all went at each other's throats and were mad disrespectful to the point where they tarnished each other's legacies and brands. All the groups broke up or bickered over money. No unity, no paying homage to the legends. Sampling laws fukked with the blueprint NY sound. Too much emphasis on major label politics and being a "boss" subordinating other artists. Indie artists getting ridiculed for trying. Aside from a nice underground scene, the mainstream is a wasteland and been that way for damn near 10 years. Today's youth are too birdbrained to do the homework and understand what happened. They already have an ATL narrative, and even a West Coast narrative from 04-05 and onwards to orient their taste around

NY had the burden of being the Mecca so to speak. The history and legendary influences are all there. If anything, NY's failure showed everyone else what NOT to do

Why do labels invest in Young Thug and not Mc so and so from the Bronx?

Because labels see Southern Music as "easy money"and disposable....

A 1 hit wonder is more profitable than a rapper who has to go thru the normal promo run...

Look at Fetty Wap...nikka has multiple hit records and the label can care less about putting his shyt out..They've made their money plus more and will prolly bullshyt when it comes to promoting the album.

Them dudes who made party like a rockstar prolly work 9-5 jobs right now..Meanwhile the label made millions of ringtones etc...

Labels dont care about the quality of music, they care about the potential earnings of it...

Mc So and So from the Bronx would have to prove his music can make money before labels give him a chance..Because street rap isnt an automatic seller like a rapper who can make a broad shake her ass..And even then, they would try to change up mc so and so to be "marketable",which would prolly end up being a disaster...

In saying that, I fukks with thugga and his music...I have always said him and quan are a threat to top 40 radio every-time they step into the studio...Labels love that...

I can be honest and say most NY rappers these days dont have the personality to get stanned at any level..

What made cats like Cam,Jay,Nas,50,Mobb Deep,Wu-Tang,DMX appeal was that they possessed a certain "energy"that made nikkas gravitate toward them and their camps...Even if it was negative energy

Honestly...

Santana, Banks, and Fab had it all set up for them...

Santana, Banks, and Fab are 3 of the laziest nikkas in the game...

Go figure...:francis:

And i dont care for either 3 musically, but the way the game shifted in NYC, it was perfectly aligned for them 3 to do what needed to be done...

And they dropped the ball

I feel you. They shoulda been the TI, Wayne, Jeezys of NY but while laziness was part of it, they were all stuck in contracts where they were under 50 or Cam who were also signed to a label. There was lots of jealousy preventing them from shining. Fab managed to stay cool with everyone and branded himself well even today but the other guys fell victim to the petty beefs and having your boss be a rapper with an ego and brand of their own stunted their growth. Crab shyt

Max B getting booked was a major recent blow. His brand and influence were big enough to overcome the fukk shyt with Jim. He was modern but had the NY flavor at the core but he was stopped dead in his tracks.

Ebro belittling Sean Price, calling him Little League to try and get views/listens when he was one of the last true real NY MCs that could stand the test of time was some pure fukk shyt. Rosenberg trying to punk Chuck D, the definition of an NY rap legend, was another nail in the coffin.

50 is probably the most responsible though. He went at EVERYONE, and if he didn't, he subordinated MOP and Mobb Deep tarnishing their brands, and made Dip Set look like a complete joke

To be fair..The Mobb was done..50 gave them nikkas a lifeline..

M.O.P. prolly had the worst luck..they were inactive on the ROC as well as G-Unit

Max just couldnt shake out of the contract....Jimmy had him on the paperwork..

The difference with Jim and Cam is Cam will set you up to get you some shine and put a lil paper in your pocket...If you dont do your part, thats on you
Jim want all and everything to himself so he can feel he the boss...Max and Stack had a following, but Jimmy wanted to keep them nikkas at bay
50 played off that masterfully..
