So it ain't no money in NYC?
No local act in any state can compete with billion dollar corporations...
I think i read that Funk Flex was charging 5k for 1 SPIN..Which is obviously for local acts..

So it ain't no money in NYC?

We've beenn saying that thoughIs that why most new NYC artists sound like they're from somewhere else. Even French stole the (Haan) shyt from the Ying Yang Twins.
Why do labels invest in Young Thug and not Mc so and so from the Bronx? No local act in any state can compete with billion dollar corporations...

Why do labels invest in Young Thug and not Mc so and so from the Bronx?
The shyt imploded. NY rappers all went at each other's throats and were mad disrespectful to the point where they tarnished each other's legacies and brands. All the groups broke up or bickered over money. No unity, no paying homage to the legends. Sampling laws fukked with the blueprint NY sound. Too much emphasis on major label politics and being a "boss" subordinating other artists. Indie artists getting ridiculed for trying. Aside from a nice underground scene, the mainstream is a wasteland and been that way for damn near 10 years. Today's youth are too birdbrained to do the homework and understand what happened. They already have an ATL narrative, and even a West Coast narrative from 04-05 and onwards to orient their taste around
NY had the burden of being the Mecca so to speak. The history and legendary influences are all there. If anything, NY's failure showed everyone else what NOT to do

I feel you. They shoulda been the TI, Wayne, Jeezys of NY but while laziness was part of it, they were all stuck in contracts where they were under 50 or Cam who were also signed to a label. There was lots of jealousy preventing them from shining. Fab managed to stay cool with everyone and branded himself well even today but the other guys fell victim to the petty beefs and having your boss be a rapper with an ego and brand of their own stunted their growth. Crab shytHonestly...
Santana, Banks, and Fab had it all set up for them...
Santana, Banks, and Fab are 3 of the laziest nikkas in the game...
Go figure...
And i dont care for either 3 musically, but the way the game shifted in NYC, it was perfectly aligned for them 3 to do what needed to be done...
And they dropped the ball
Max B getting booked was a major recent blow. His brand and influence were big enough to overcome the fukk shyt with Jim. He was modern but had the NY flavor at the core but he was stopped dead in his tracks.
Ebro belittling Sean Price, calling him Little League to try and get views/listens when he was one of the last true real NY MCs that could stand the test of time was some pure fukk shyt. Rosenberg trying to punk Chuck D, the definition of an NY rap legend, was another nail in the coffin.
50 is probably the most responsible though. He went at EVERYONE, and if he didn't, he subordinated MOP and Mobb Deep tarnishing their brands, and made Dip Set look like a complete joke
