I thought this was known. Even as someone who used to listen to Drake a lot, I never thought he was like some Godly MC. Like Nas or Jay or Lupe etc. I don't know when that idea even became a thing. That's some Stan made shyt. He's not even a better rapper than Meek as far as flows and bars an delivery.
He's always been a slightly above average rapper with average flows and good witty wordplay. His greatest strength was his in depth personal writing (which he doesn't even do), his ability to sing, and the amount of tones he can project with his voice. Literally has like 3 or 4 different tones he can use and each one makes him sound like a different artist, which is cool and unique. His greatest strength is his versatility.
As a rapper though? Always been just above average. Which is why he didn't blow until he added all that other stuff. Drake as just a rapper isn't spectacular. At all.
Rocky is far ahead of him as a rapper. A couple of levels actually.

Yup. Even if you ignore the ghost writing stuff Drake is an average rapper at best.
He however is leaps and bounds better than Rocky at making songs / albums. People can argue he has a lot of help but so do all those guys at that level, for the most part. Kanye got in all the big names for his joint.
