As 37-year-old Antonio Espana-Estrada was leaving work at J&P Trading Inc. on St. Paul’s West Side last week, a couple sat in a minivan in the parking lot arguing.
The man got out of the vehicle, ran up to Espana-Estrada and “started shooting everywhere,” the woman later told police.
Chee Kong Yang
Chee Kong Yang, 28, shot Espana-Estrada in the torso and began to walk back to the minivan, according to a murder charge filed Monday, but then he turned back and continued to shoot Espana-Estrada who was already on the ground
The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office charged Yang, of St. Paul, with second-degree murder with intent — not premeditated. Espana-Estrada, of St. Paul, died Thursday night. The criminal complaint doesn’t explain a motive for the shooting.
Espana-Estrada worked at J&P Trading Inc., a food distributor, for 14 years. Yang was an employee “a long time ago” and the men both did stocking work in the warehouse, according to a company representative who said Monday he had no idea why Yang came to the business on Thursday.
