American chattel slavery is far and away easily the greatest moral crime in the history of this country

not only the slavery itself, but everything done in it's aftermath. the lynching, the Jim crow laws, all the instances where it was slavery by another name, and the litany of misdeeds that have been perpetrated against Black people and those same systems that enabled all that still being alive and well

I'm not a supporter of ADOS or reparations (as a POLICY, not as a theory) but this argument is asinine. Reparations are not solely a moral argument, it's an economic argument based on the fact that the United States not only built considerable wealth on the backs of slaves, it then excluded their ancestors from various economic policies that allowed whites to advance farther.

I'd imagine this dude is just playing a game (and being a jerk) but if reparations ever looked like they could truly be a political reality, we would no doubt see multiple groups start making arguments like this as a means of begging for funds. Which of course is one of the many reasons why reparations aren't logical to me: you need to build political consensus or capital in order to pull off something like this, but the policy in of itself is so divisive it eliminates support from outside groups thus making it passing extremely unlikely.
