I been camped out in Lima the last few days. Hearing from other travelers and locals, protests and riots have been escalating in other regions of the country. Protesters been blocking roads, attacking airports and they lynched a police officer

Here in Lima, things are more or less business as usual besides protests outside government buildings in the downtown area

They closed Macchu Picchu which is disappointing cuz I really wanted to slide there
Man the international news media especially France 24 and Aljazeera said that the protesters where a few miles away from Lima and coming to tear shyt up.

I got to check out Macchu Piccu too. You seen any staright up indigenous people? You see the ones with the bowler hats selling on the streets and they have annual protests but I haven't seen any. My girl said up the river from her home town (she grew up in the Jungled Pacfic region) there were Indigenous folks who wore traditional clothes.

I didn't relize how isolated some of these jungled regions be even though they play little commericals of Movie theaters bringing movies to those villages.

It's best for you to leave Peru now! :picard:
It gets real outside of the west. Some dudes in Colombia beat up some traffic cops.

That's not even counting the shootouts that the FARC has with the cops.

Again to an american it sounds crazy to hear a cop get pressed and maybe nothing happening to the perpetrator.

In terms of crime and safety do you feel safer in Peru or in America worse cities?

What's the moat grimiest situation you've witnessed while out there that had you counting your blessings?
The slums in Guayaquil Ecuador were grimey. Didn’t feel safe, I’ll put on some faded cargo pants, dirty Adidas shoes and a white t shirt so I blend in as much as possible. It helps being a brown skin man..I can pass for Colombian or Venezuelan easy

Man this is what I try to tell people. I have the same exact experience in Santiago, DR. I go every month. People just kicking back chilling outside at night. All ages enjoying the tropical weather and simple life. That’s how black people should be living. Sipping presidente watching people dance.

Food must be amazing in Peru, no GMO
The freshest seafood I ever had for dirt cheap. $6 fish & shrimp with a beer would have me right. Then be ready to hit the clubs for midnight :wow:

Yep, it’s like that all throughout Latin America. You see people taking naps on the grass at parks. Dancing in their yard with family. Love to see it
How long was your trip?
2 Weeks
