at one of my jobs, the Assisttant principal is pregnant. Some people at my job are up in arms because they view her as a bad example for kids. Not using brith control. Etc. I personally am glad that she didn't abort her kid but I'm in the minority. What's your thoughts on this. If your kids teacher, principal, someone in leadership of your child had a baby without being married. Do you think it's a bad example?

Uh no, wtf. Those people need to stfu and mind their own business. I saw tons of women having babies oow, that didn't have any affect on me. People need to teach their kids to think for themselves and stop being followers. Instead of trying to force other people to live to be examples for kids that aren't theirs.

Honestly it's none of your coworkers business. Her personal life is just that - personal. How many of them have no problem with having sex out of wedlock?

Also, as far as been an example to the children, yes teachers and principals serve as examples; however, her being pregnant doesn't stop her from being a academic or professional example (which is all she should be anyway since that is the capacity that they know her). Also, how would the kids know if she is married or not (and why is it that child's business if she is)? Finally, if this is a Title I school, I would side eye the majority of the parents if they wanted get on a soapbox about the situation.

Educators are people too; not saints.

As far as setting a bad example then it would depend on whether the father is in the picture. Are they dating or was it just a one night stand type of thing? If they aren't together than I would agree it is a bad example to the students as far as being irresponsible in that type of situation. Aborting the child would not have been a good solution either so I'm glad she didn't do that.

Well I can personally say as a former teacher that I never talked about my sex and dating life to my students so idk how they would even come across that type of information. That's why it's ultimately none of their business.

Depends on the level of morality you expect for where you choose to educate your children. A religious based school, certainly. Outside of that doesn't seem like it should be your business unless she is promoting those types of decisions as a option to your children.

True it is none of their business but something like that is bound to get out. I'm not chastising her for it but as far as the question asked yes it is a bad example if she is not with the father for the long haul.

I know you weren't. I just wanted to provide a little context about the personal and professional bounds that educators try and should keep with their students. The only way it would get out is those gossiping coworkers.
