This is some scary shyt. I was on a business meeting call this afternoon and one of our contracts admins lives up there. She was told - in the middle of the call - that she had to evacuate her house.

I remember a few years ago there was a bad one California and there have been a few bad ones in the city in the last decade. I don't think I've seen anything this widespread before but the one in California awhile back was like a whole cul de sac.

I live here. The command center is a few min away from my house.
The whole area was a war zone yesterday.
No gas service for weeks. Power has been out for safety reasons. Hopefully getting it back tonight or tomorrow.
Shouts to the EMSpeople. The cops firefighters and state reps have been on top of this 100% and the response from surrounding towns was amazing. People from Maine NH and RI came to help.
A big fukk you to Columbia Gas. They ran and hid instead of addressing what happened. Gov Baker pulled them off the job thankfully.
Closest explosion was half a mile from my house. The whole middle of the house was burned down.

Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, which owns the gas lines involved in the blasts, has thus far given no indication of what might have caused the disaster. Baker and other officials, including Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera, issued scathing criticisms of the company.
“Since yesterday, when we first got word of this incident, the least informed and the last to act have been Columbia Gas,” Rivera said, with Baker at his side at a news conference. He said that the company had promised “hundreds of teams of technicians” but that “none have materialized.”
“It just seems that there’s no one in charge,” Rivera said. “Like they’re in the weeds.”

His death was sad af. They were showing that house on TV for two hours talking about hoping no one was in the house. No one even thought to think someone was in the car. It was some Final Destination type event. Someone inside went to cook and the house blew up. Chimney came off and landed on the driver side of the car and this dude was the driver. Unreal. Rip
On a side note. Lawrence Mayor Rivera tore the gas company apart today. He def represented the voice of the whole valley. Earned a lot of political points and showed his city he really cares. That’s something that’s been missing for a while there.
