I was an engineer for att and they've been working with directv for years to combine fiber optic and satellite tech in areas that couldn't get uverse. They did a trial in parts of San Francisco and in the Orlando area. It was all under the uverse name but it wasn't uverse at all. And for that very reason I own stock in both

How did that work breh? Did they have fiber running to the houses just strictly for internet?

Nope it was strictly tv. Data ran through a different source. Tv all ran from a central source that was supplied by Hughes but att laid the fiber optics so everyone was able to get tv without having a dish. We could split the initial signal as long as it was digital but it didn't have the bandwidth to run through copper. So all we did basically was retrofit a huge dish that was a mile or 2 away just like cable companies and local channels do and set it to accept uverse frequencies but it was all licensed through Hughes. The internet ran adjacent to the fiber but it ran through copper so it was capped at about 30 megs/sec. Nobody there knew it wasn't true uverse service. As long as their boxes said uverse they didn't care I guess.

At&t uverse been good to the god.....they snatched me up from Cumcast a few years ago on a door to door. So they kiss my ass, lock me in on 12 month deals and always
re -up me on that same lo lo contract. Internet is not as fast as Cumcast but dat uverse stb dvr ui is so much smoother than cumcast...

Verizon has had a partnership with Comcast/TWC for over a year now.
