At this moment there is No Logical Reason to go to Mars.

The reasons being used are bad reasons: We need to find another planet since we're going to destroy planet earth. to keep the species alive.

Lets be a multiplanet species just in case something happens to earth. ....

The only reason you go to mars is to bring back some kind of material(s) resources we dont have here in abundance or at all that could really help people in some form or fashion. thats it and thats all.

Think about the mission for instance.

They want to land on mars, setup some bases. they will have to setup domes so we can breath there without wearing suits the entire time. and that dome will have to be grow plants, trees, veggies, etc.

Why would any smart person spend all that time, money, and put themselves in danger to do what they could easily do right here on earth, even if things went bad with the climate.

Lets say climate change happens for real and there's no more denying it from any side of the aisle. lets say its 5 degrees hotter on the hot days, 5 degrees colder on the cold days. the seas are elevated so the coastal cities are pushed back or completely under water.

Lets say all these things are true. crazy storms, etc.

Non of the above got Ish on Current day Mars. Mars right now is much Colder than earth do to its further distance from the sun. So we are going to leave the cold to get colder..makes no sense.

Mars atmosphere isnt even as thick as ours. so now we're going to feel that heat/radiation more than we do on earth even with climate change. which is why we would need DOMES on mars.

yall do realize its much easier to build Domes right here on earth and figure it out right in your backyard, then it is to go to mars or any other planet.

So the question is, what is the REAL reason people want to go to other planets?

Why would i want to move to an outer space version of Arizona? No water, dust storms all day long.
Today, Mars is warmer than Earth. See how we compare.

Better off building bases on the moon or adding additional space stations.

no, better off building big domes right here on earth. if the air gets to much for us to breath and the water is too polluted. we still fair better creating things right here to live. UNLESS there's a resource issue that can be solved on Mars. thats different. or the moon or any other moon or planet out there. You get my point?

Its like someone moving away from the rain forest to arizona because of global warming. why not stay in the rain forest and build whatever you were going to build in AZ and build it there.

and i'm not anti space. i love the idea, but the truth is the truth. what are we really trying to do?

I mean, we're acting like Mars dont look like the earth WILL look if we keep ignoring climate change for the next 1000 years. why would i want to fast forward 1000 years on mars when i can build that dome right here? doesnt make sense.

What do they see or want from space
thats my point. what are we REALLY trying to do? does someone know about some crazy resource(s) that no one is talking about?

can i eat a speck of mars dust and be full for a month and well nourished?

Personally i believe there is no escape.
We will die on earth as a specie.
There is too much world corruption to have world powers actually put focus on this.

Secondly the time it would take to FIND another inhabitable planet could honestly take another century, no really.
Then to have people emigrate there, do you honestly think even in 200 years that america or another country will pull this off?
Then think of comfort, we would ideally have to find a planet of similar size with a VERY comparable distance to the sun & hopefully have a moon like the size of our moon.
Did you know we need that moon, otherwise a year could be a month without the moon's gravitational pull.

Think of all this.
Did you see interstellar?
Remember that planet they ended up in?
It looked weird, thing is who cares it was sunny & had vegetation.

And lastly, even if its accomplished, which it wont, you actually think you or any of your seeds gonna catch a ride?

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step :ehh:

How are we ever gonna meet bad alien chicks in other system/galaxies if we haven't even gone to our neighboring planet
Would banging aliens be any different than banging animals? :jbhmm:

Pushing the envelope :yeshrug:
what envelope? what are we pushing? we know we can rocket to space. we know if we tried hard enough we could put some people on mars. but aside from doing that. do we have a reason why? because the reasons i'm hearing are not like our original moon landing where we did it just cause ... to one up the russians.

There are ALWAYS logical reasons to go to Mars. You can argue whether or not the reasons are practical , but you can't reasonably argue that the search for knowledge and information about our solar system, galaxy, and universe as a whole are ever illogical. Curiosity is a basic fundamental characteristic of mankind and is the foundation of science itself.

Studying Mars has a ton of benefits relating to understanding the future ramifications of climate change on Earth. Understanding the changes that have taken place to the Martian atmosphere, water, and soil, not to mention the possibility of discovering evidence of past or current life on Mars can yield enormous advancements to our current scientific understanding of Earth.
