I hear ya but don't diss your elders that's cac philosophy

On many levels but I'll give you one for your meditation.

Darwin philosophy is one of evolution meaning the new is better than the old. So new man better than the original

I'm sure you can deduct what I'm saying from that without more elaboration. Our shyt is that our ancestors were original man made perfection and evolution doesn't mean progression but could be mutation

We have to respect our elders. It's like our generations have been walking from one point of origin for millenia till the destination, they give birth to you and you say "fukk your plans nikka, I know best" ... who you?

The key is to get the point of the journey and get there using their knowledge as a foundation plus the new shyt you have the privilege of learning.

In short a tree cant stand without its roots so don't diss your elders likkle bwoy
with all due respect, ill think however the fukk I want to. My philosophy isnt yours....

I didn't grow up poor.

I don't remember the first few times I realized that I wasn't poor. I do remember it being reinforced when i was in 6th grade. So 10/11. This girl in my class was very poor. She didn't have a christmas and people were giving her things like she was a charity.. A little bit before that, some people couldn't pay tuition and had to leave the school, so maybe that's when I realized. Idk

Going back to school with no supplies for the first week :mjcry:

Eating bologna tacos for lunch and dinner :mjcry:

Going to Sam's club once a year to buy groceries after taxes :mjcry:

Having to drink Bubba Cola instead of actual Coke. :mjcry:

Elders have to be deserving of respect, otherwise they're just old (I.e. If you're born from a crackhead grandmother, and a prostitute for a mother who didn't take care of you, or leave you with anything. Those two are not deserving of ANY respect).

Depends on your understanding of "respecting" your roots. Anyway it's whatever, at what age did you realize?

When our lights were off for like almost a year.
Lmao!

shyt happens. My father lost his job and it was really hard for him and my mom at times. To be real, I think the example they set for us and the love they gave me was more important. It's taken them some time to grow into financial literacy.

If anything it made me more resourceful. I now know how to make wicks for kerosene lamps and get work done before sundown.

I also think it gave me superpowers. I spent a lot of time staying up late reading by candlelight. My mom thought I was gonna get cataracts but my eyesight is actually 20/13. I can see all the little letters on that damn eye chart from halfway across the room from either eye.

Either way I adore my family and their work ethic. I told my mom and dad the other day that when they get older, they will NEVER want for anything. Wherever I go, they'll be. I wanna make sure they live the rest of their lives with dignity b/c they loved me and my sister so much even if they didn't have as much wealth to give. We was rich in love.

i did not grow up poor in the relative sense when comparing my fam to my neighborhood/classmates. maybe cause my fam always shelled out on clothes and shoes, everything felt right.

but i did not realize that my family was broke until i started undergrad (hbcu) i just thought all black people were pretty broke up until then. then i realized a lot of black people ahve money out the ass.

i am in grad school right now and sometimes i get so angry bc im just now realizing how poor my family is compared to other people across america and internationally.

if my parents did not use credit (they have horrible debt/credit now) i can only imagine how broke we really would have been :mjcry: i work 3 jobs and school full time to keep up with my friends
