At what point does a Niche sport become Mainstream

What, in your opinion is the threshold for that?

Hockey, Track and Field, Lacrosse, Boxing and MMA etc are all niche sports right?

Maybe even baseball....I think football and bball are the only mainstream Sports in the country..

Baseball's not a niche sport, IMO....

I think one measure of that threshold is popularity....another is profitability.

Breh for a long time in America baseball was the ONLY sport doing numbers and producing superstars. fukking babe Ruth was the man in 1923. What else was around back then. They called it "Americas Pastime" back then for a reason.

The "issue" with baseball is that held/holds onto the past way too much, the color barrier thing is an unremovable stain, and the pace just drags on because people aren't just gonna sit there all game doing box scores while there's better paced entertainment options that don't take 3-4 hours.

I don't think bball and baseball get the consistent TV ratings be mainstream but they probably make enough money to be looked at that way.

due to team construction and player visibilty baseball doesnt have true superstars that transcend past america but baseball is definitely more popular than basketball breh
