My wife rode her bicycle to work every day in LA. Some of the world's biggest cities have enormous numbers of people on bicycles.I know everyone wants to be healthy and green but scooters and bikes just aren’t safe in large congested cities.
There are more people than parking spaces now. It’s better to park right outside the downtown area of the city and either walk, bike, or ride the scooter in. People are tired of waiting on the bus and shyt(well at least I am) so these scooters make so much sense. I’m not a huge fan of them because people ride them all crazy around the city, but they do that on bikes and mopeds too. It’s nothing to see an idiot riding a moped going like 15 mph holding up a huge line of traffic, people riding on bikes crazy too. Man these cities have a problem on their hands now with these scooters cause the older city council/folks hates them, but the younger folks live them... These downtowns are focusing on “millennials” and young people trying to bring that energy downtown.. You take those scooters away and piss them off then you’re going to have problems. My wife rode her bicycle to work every day in LA. You meant to say that cars aren't safe in large congested cities. It's the cars that are killing people (and that will keep killing people even if all the bikes are gone). Every once in a while some bicyclist will do something stupid but 90% of the time they're the ones being careful cause their lives are on the line, it's the overly aggressive or careless drivers who are killing people. And even if there wasn't a single bike on the road they'd be killing motorcyclists or pedestrians or people in other cars.
More and more people are moving to cities, there's just no reality where you can just indefinitely keep increasing the number of cars on the road and still have a city that works, much less a planet that's viable. Commute times are already hell because there's way too many cars on the road, and long commutes are one of the top reasons why people's well-being goes down in the city. If you don't want to ride a bike yourself don't hate on the people that do.
I'm only talking about bicycles though, not about to cape for that scooter shyt.![]()
I travel pretty often for work and these scooters are a freaking mess in every major city that I've been to. Scooters all over the place, laying down on the sidewalk, in bushes, hanging off the curb into the street, etc and there have been deaths in multiple cities. I'm all for easier/greener ways to get around, but they should maintain these in a better manner. At the very least, they should be like the bicycle programs where there are specific racks throughout the city where they must be returned.
