wondered if anybody here owns a A6 or an S5

had questions regarding what you think about the car, motor, reliability etc...

i had a A5 before... it was nice.. bad ass.. but never really like th 2.0 motor... burned oil like a mofo... often times the tranny would slip or jerk when coming to a stop... it felt like it was a major problem on the way so i got rid of it.. turbos are something i wasn't used to (lag) it was bad ass when you got on the freeway and the car really jumped but i did a lot of stop and go driving so it was a bit annoying but i guess i lucked out that i work close to the pad/...

i miss that car and used to get so many complements on the car... but i would prob get an S5 instead... that or an A6 is about the same price (either buy used 1 or 2 year or lease new)

but just wondering thoughts from the 2.0 to 3.0 ....

I have the 3.0 in my S4 and it's a nice engine, it doesn't drink oil like the 2.0, there's more torque and it's v6 so it's really nothing like a 4 cylinder 2 liter with a small turbo.

Can't go wrong with Audi in my experience, they packed a lot of great tech in the new models, and they're sharp cars. They seem to really want to fetch a premium for the S5 so be prepared.

:ehh:

The 3.0 engine is among the best of the new engines out there, you can't go wrong and it's relatively good on gas if you can believe it

Just like @88m3 said be prepared to pay a premium for the S5.

It seems to hold it's value pretty well relative to other Audi models. I just wish their lease deals reflected that. The residuals are in the pits and don't reflect the used market value that I'm seeing at all. Audi's robbing everyone and anyone who leases a S5 or RS5. If they had lease incentives they could even things out but they don't play that game.

You're going to be paying like $850+ a month (36 months) on a $55,000 (with money due at signing) car. Of course you could put down a monstrous down payment to bring the cap cost down...but you should NEVER do that on a lease. Comparatively a $55,000 BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes will run you about $600 a month.

My advice is to buy it more than 3 years old used or buy new if you can afford it.

Horrible horrible deals . You're going to be paying like $850+ a month (36 months) on a $55,000 car unless you put a down a heavy down payment. Which you should NEVER do on a lease.

Yeah, I remember when I looked I was shocked at what they wanted for a S5, granted they're around 10k more.

From what I've seen they hold values fairly well. Idk, about the residual after a full lease though... seems dicey. Personally I'm really not that worried about a few k though.

For me I found it made more sense financially and practically to just get a S4. This is all granted the dealership was really up to work with me, cut me deals, delivered the car to me, and had exactly what I wanted fully loaded, stick, magma interior etc.

I pay around 560 mo for 36k months 15k miles a year. For the last A4 I bought I ended up being substantially upside down and was paying 400mo so it was really a no brainer. I really ran out of patience to sell it and had held onto it for too long, imo.

If you're really on top of your shlt you can make it work. This is also a business expense for me so it's really like whatever.

I've seen pretty decent deals on year old RS5's off lease for re-lease. A car like that just doesn't seem financially prudent to me when you can get a 991S for around the same price(not sure about residuals there though either).

Also a 3 year old S5 I believe still has the 4.2 V8 and it's a car you really don't want to deal with.

I spent a month on Edmunds doing research before signing the lease on my GS350. Practically stole the car at invoice without a dime down (helps that I used to work with the General Sales Manager at Lexus) , paid down the money factor and walked out with a check for my CLS63.

Can't stress how much doing your research helps. That lease deal on your S4 is an excellent deal. Especially by Audi standards.

On to the next one now. Might need to get back into a V8.

That's what's up.

Yeah, research is really everything. Thanks. I walked away from the experience surprised and happy wish I see as rare in dealing with auto sales.

Not a ton of options out there with a V8 these days? I really don't keep up on cars as much as I used to but it seems like most everyone is fazing them out.

I will say I like the C63(not big on the redesigned front), 550i(why didn't I buy an M5) and the M5/M6(shouldn't I be buying another condo/house). :heh:

I gotta say I'd love an M5/M6 grand coupe in stick when they hit the 60/70k mark.

I like the E AMG as well but would probably shoot myself dealing with the dealerships in the city(Audi is bad enough).

If you're looking for an Audi in the Tri-State I can give you my guys info he was great to work with.

I'm an Infiniti guy but I almost bought a used A8 at Paul Miller Audi over in Morris County, NJ, don't know if you heard of them.

I've heard of them can't remember whether it was good or bad. I know Jack Daniels is to steer clear of. I had a good experience with JMK BMW in Jersey as well. I got my last Audi through Mohegan Lake in Westchester.
I try to stay clear of Jersey dealerships because they have different laws than the ones in NY and have less consumer protection. How did you like the A8?

Loved it, but I ended up leasing another M56x though. But I may look at an S7 down the line though since I'm not in love with the Q70. Paul Miller Group has some of the best reputations in the East Coast (Plus Paul Miller used to be a client of mine for a short while). I don't shill for dealers like that but you're right Jack Daniels is brutal, they were very disrespectful when I went there years back. Also keep in mind a lot of Jersey dealers sell to NY people so, they have experience with those type of deals if you should buy one here, plus you are protected under any NY laws and disclosures since you are registered there.
