i'm in the market for a new car. i currently have a 07 camry :scusthov: and i need to get something classy but that doesn't seem like i'm bragging or trying to hard.

Only issue with BMW is family and friends have it already, but they are in deep debt hell. I can only afford upto 10K, depending on how much I get for the camry.

looking for suggestions, thoughts..anything.

What I hear.
1. You want a new BMW or Audi and you have up to $10,000 to start off with depending on what you get for the Camry.
2. You have 2007 Toyota Camry that you could sell or trade-in.
3. You don't want a BMW because others have it already and are deep in debt. But, you are open to it because it's classy.

My thoughts
1. Cars are one of the worst things to buy brand new. They depreciate more than most other high-dollar assets.
2. What do you think your car is worth, $12,000 to $15,000 sold privately?
3. Do you owe anything on the Camry?
4. Don't trade-in ever.
5. Don't get in debt for a car. It is good to go from point A to point B.
6. Are you able to save money now?

My suggestions
1. It might be worth keeping the Camry for two more years. Save up cash every month to build up a bigger down payment.
2. If you buy want to buy a BMW or Audi, sell the Camry first. Then, rent a cheap compact car for a week while you look around for a used BMW or Audi that is two to three years old and fits your budget.
3. When looking at car prices, don't max out on your budget. You don't want an unexpected big expense to push you into spiraling debt.
4. Forget about image. Who you are or what you think people think of you should not be dictated by the car you drive/own. Just don't get a bad quality car. Look up cars that you are interested in on Consumer Reports (free at the library) to get an idea of what cars have problems and what cars don't have problems.

If your budget is 10k I'd avoid European makes.
Is it because of maintenance?

My camry is worth a lot less than that. Selling it privately, i've gotten offers of upto 7K. The car is in bad shape, had 1 major accident and the interior has been worn down.

I can't stick with the camry for another couple of years. I've had it for 5 years. It's time for a new car. I owe nothing on the camry. It's all been paid for. I just want to get rid of it.

I'm not in the market to buy a brand new car. I don't want to get in debt hell. I barely have any debt right now. I have money saved up, but i'm saving up for down payment for a house rather than a brand new car. For now, I just need something nice and simple with class. My budget as mentioned is 10K. I was expecting to get 8k for the camry, but that's not going to happen. So far people aren't interested in a worn down vehicle.

I'm looking at cars that are around 10K, i know i might have to settle for years 2005 or lower, but i'm fine with that.

It sounds like you're buying a car simply because you WANT one..not because you NEED one. I could be wrong of course, but that's what I'm getting from your last post.

I'd fix whatever is wrong with the Camry and focus on the house first. Then worry about replacing the car. House>car. As long as the Camry still runs and gets you from point A to point B you're fine.

Unless you're in a field of work where you drive clients around I could understand. But, if you aren't, worry about the house first.

You getting rid of '07 Camry for a car that's '05 or lower doesn't make much sense to me breh.

But, at the end of the day it's your money breh. Best of luck in whatever you do.

Though I am more of an Audi guy, for 10K or less I'm going with an E46 (1999-2005.5) BMW. At that price you could probably get a clean ass 330i sedan or 330ci m-sport. If you want something bigger, then a 530/540i is possible too.

Thing is, they will all most likely have considerably more mileage than your Camry right now, depending on how old you go.

Okay. Your car is paid off. Great.
If you sold the Camry, you might get $7,000 max. You are saying you have up to $3,000 in cash to add to that for a total of $10,000. Less if the Camry sells for less.

Considering that you are saving for a down payment on a home, my suggestions would be the following.
1. Keep the Camry forever. Think of it as a free back-up car. If you decide to sell it years into the future, it will be a profit because you drove it beyond its depreciation value.
2. If you sell it now, get a compact Asian or American sedan/hatchback that is below $10,000.

If your budget is 10k I'd stay away from Euro. Its possible you could land in a nice E46 or E39, but if and when something goes wrong you'll be truly sorry.

Cant speak for Audi as I have not done much research on them regarding the older models.

why are you trying to trade in a 2007 for a 2005 ? just so you can say you have an audi or bmw ? breh, save your money until you can afford a newer model.
