A Cleveland Browns rookie is charged with attempted murder for allegedly punching a man outside a club in northern New Jersey.

Ausar Walcott turned himself in to Passaic police Tuesday after he was identified as a suspect in the incident that happened around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities tell The Record newspaper the 23-year-old Hackensack native and former University of Virginia player punched 24-year-old Derrick Jones in the head just after The Palace Gentlemen's Club closed. Police say Jones, who is from New York City, is in critical condition.

Walcott is held on $500,000 bail. It's not clear if he has a defense lawyer.

hard to tell where the trolling begins or ends in here, but you do know that if you hit someone and they die, you'll be catching a serious charge, right?

def manslaughter

Manslaughter is a legal term for the killing of a human being, in a manner considered by law as less culpable than murder. T

The definition of manslaughter differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The law generally differentiates between levels of criminal culpability based on the mens rea, or state of mind; or the circumstances under which the killing occurred (mitigating factors). Manslaughter is usually broken down into two distinct categories: voluntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter; however, this is not the case in all jurisdictions.[2]

In some jurisdictions, such as the UK, Canada and some Australian states provocation (or "loss of control" in English law) is a partial defence to a charge of murder which acts by converting what would otherwise have been murder into manslaughter.
