Reaves signed a 4 year 54 mil deal back in 2022 as a RFA. Your next contract extension can only be a certain percentage higher(I think it's 140%) than your old one, so the Lakers were capped at giving him 4/90. When he becomes a UFA, he can theoretically sign for 25% of a team's cap(around 45M AAV) or more if he makes an All-NBA(unlikely).
