Australian kac always show they ass:scust:

@dreskii give us some more insight?

the only insight i can provide is this is typical of our current government... this is the first government that has made BACKWARDS strides in terms of indigenous issues, womens issues, minorities... pretty much human rights as a whole - I will mostly attribute this to our current government being heavily focused on being fear mongering fukkers who think their nation is too dumb to actually subscribe to policy based on critical thinking. I can acknowledge that Australia's global reputation of being a bunch of racist rednecks has been warranted in the past .. (white australia policy of the 80's, cronulla riots etc) however from the 2000's onwards the nations identity as a multicultural society didn't seem TOO farfetched.

this latest development is supposedly a move to more efficiently spend tax dollars (my understanding is that there will be a decrease in funding to support these rural areas.. which essentially will force indigenous people to move from their homelands) from a pure economics point of view, I can see why they would put forth this change however.. the fact that he said it's a 'lifestyle' choice for indigenous people to stay living in rural areas is what makes Tony Abbot the most incompetent prime minister of the modern era. He's our equivalent of george dubya (in my opinion he is worse). He doesn't even cloak his inherent racism and backward world view... he's just a fukking idiot really.

i'm assuming you tagged me as we had a little bit of discussion on Australians racism towards indigenous people during the sydney siege. (sidebar the cafe reopened yesterday :salute:).. i like to think our PM isn't a reflection on our wider society (backed up by his currently abysmal approval rating). He definitely represents australia's 'old boy' society and i will be very surprised if he's re-elected.

would be keen to see if there's any other Aussie opinions on here.

Australian ethio here...but i live in melbourne wheres theres not many aborigInes...Ive only seen 4 aborigines in my life, cool people, but they were heavily mixed ones, i thought they were hispanic or mexican actually:heh:..I think Melbourne is pretty much the most progressive state in terms of being pro multicultural. We had the longest serving mayor who was originally from Hong Kong and we also had one of the longest serving premiers who was of Lebanese descent(steve bracks) and he was well liked by everyone, not to mention half of melbournians arent descendents of anglo convists and most of us are third or second gen migrants. We also had a greens member as a member for melbourne, theyre pretty much bordering on environmental marxism and are seen as the extreme left. So i dont think we would be representative of the broader Australian experience. All in all, Ive never experienced racism which is strange considering the history n all. Asians are everywhere aswell and theyre well liked and Asian culture is big here, especially in the city. Tho indians for some reason get alot flak here. Tony abott is considered fukktard here. Most melbournians hate him with a passion except for the bogan suburbs where hes seen as the messiah. I think the more north you go, the more racism you encounter in Australia. I know sydney has a problem with arabs and muslims and the territory has a racist as fukk police force.

Lmao true...Hatred of the b*stard is intense down south.., Im suprised we havent elected a marxist party in parliament, tho some of them libtards who live in the inner city suburbs take it too far. Especially those annoying marxist feminists who keep handing me marxist feminist lamphlets at little lonsdale street and Fed square. I feel like :dahell: :pacspit:Everytime i see a marxist Feminist on the street protesting. :why:like bytch what are protesting about. Overall Melbourne culture is very unique when compared with the rest of Australia. Are u Aborigine?

John Oliver said the country was "comfortably racist" and they flipped out, he said people always complained about different groups like the Lebos apparently in reference to Lebanese immigrants. They are quite different from the UK/US as far as race is concerned, they had a stand in a stadium called the "nikka" Brown stand (spelled with an "er)that was removed after an aboriginal dude had campaigned long against it, he announced he would be going after a product called "c00n cheese" that is still on the shelves. John Howard a former PM tried running for a top post in the International Cricket Council and the Afro-Asian block came out vehemently against him and i think there was some perception it was tied to race.
