Which is the the cheapest route for buying a new car?

Hypothetically the buyer has Excellent credit score and a great car loan already in place. My mother was telling me that a broker would be the best option, but if you know what car/package you want and have quotes from 3 or 4 other places and you came in the right time of month/year you couldn't do better than a broker. "Give me the car for XX amount or I'm walking." Simple or what?

I've never heard of a car broker.
I thought all new cars are sold through dealers.
Is this for a used car.

Do it through a dealership and you can usually throw in a bomb warranty
