Trackmasters were the first ones I remember with a tag. Not on every beat but they were often mentioned in the opening or outro.

Bangladesh definitely had tags years before "A Milli" dropped. The songs he did on 8Ball & MJG's Livin Legends from 2004 had the female saying "Bangladesh" and if we're just going off commercially successful songs, Kelis's "Bossy" had the same tag as "A Milli".

It was concluded Just was the first to have a tag that was actually a name and the first to use a "sound" tag was Tumblin Dice/Rashad Smith who used the sound of shaking dice, that was back in the late 90s.
