That's a fact tho

All these think pieces about Chinese investment in African/Caribbean infrastructure but European countries are competing for Chinese money.

Chinese state owned companies own stakes in vital UK infrastructure providers like water, Heathrow Airport... shares in blue chip FTSE100 firms.. UK even wanted the Chinese to build the country's 5G network until the US pressured them

But Africans shouldn't do business with the Chinese :stopitslime:

I do somewhat agree with her statement but the difference is that the West and America especially are capable of handling China when they get out of pocket. They know their place. The same can’t be said of the Caribbean and Africa. You give them too much power over there and they’ll actually be running things. The weak institutions in these Third World countries plus rampant corruption means it’s more dangerous for them to let the Chinese run rampant.

Australia called for a COVID-19 probe. China responded with a trade warHmmmm. I feel like this is still just what-aboutism. America is a worse country morally for buddying up w/ China and tacitly cosigning all of their human rights violations. Saying "What about America" doesn't make the actions any less tainted. If anything, the US as a smaller country has a bigger sense of autonomy than these small nations.

On the flipside, look at someone like Australia who are fukkED whenever they start to call a spade a spade re: China:
Australia called for a COVID-19 probe. China responded with a trade war

It all boils down to money at the end of the day & the more dependent you are on dirty money, the more they expect you to STFU:
China contributes to more than 80 percent of Australia's trade surplus. By comparison, Australian exports to China accounted for merely 2.79 percent of China's total trade in the first half of this year, showed data from Chinese customs. In this sense, the Chinese market may be important for supporting the Australian economy, but there is no way that trade with Australia could be said to be lifting millions out of poverty in China.

Time stamped the part below in it's entirety.

She shut that agent down and had her embarrassed.

Thanks for posting. It’s a breath of fresh air to see moral black leaders who have a good command of the issues both domestically and internationally.

I liked her response with respect to reparations and it being a development issue for Caricom nations and how she was leading that.

I didn’t realize until now that she was the one responsible for removing QEII as the head of the State of Barbados.

Barbados to remove Queen Elizabeth as head of state

Barbados appears to have good black leadership. Would love to see more partnerships between Black Americans and Barbados.
