Ya he was hip hop as fukk but I think his artwork is garbage and overrated..

I never understood what the big deal was..looks like something a 12 year old kid could of drawn..I guess since he was friends with Andy Warhol who was overrated also and they lived in soho, that people thought he was great..

Art is not just about making technically perfect drawings or pretty paintings. It goes beyond that. Warhol and Basquiat basically shaped a lot of thinking when it came to popular culture and modern art. Thats why they are respected.
