This a down south post so you Papoose ass nikkas might not know whats going on. but dig. At one time UGK, EIGHTBALL & MJG, OUTKAST & GOODIE MOB roamed the southern landscape. now ultimately Outkast won the commercial war. But for a time It was tight(well until ATLIENS) but each were dope. but this isn't about those ATL cats this is strictly Memphis Vs Houston. Ultimately both had LOOOOOONG and successful careers. but there can only be one crowned as kings.

Who you riding with? and if you ain't from BelowTheMasonDixon keep your thoughts to yall self this some southern shyt.

Oh and "Coming Out Hard" is one of the greatest hip hop albums ever. I ain't ranking or none of that shyt. But if you love rap you should have it.

UGK to me, but you really can't go wrong with either :manny:

Oh its close period. Just wanted opinions but man "Coming out hard" is damn near down south illmatic. Its literally THAT good. only nine tracks but 8 are like SERIOUS BANGERS. Super Tyte was good but it was ok. Early UGK was a lot more hit and miss. but as they peaked..yeah them boys was sick.

ATLiens is the best album by all the groups, but overall, UGK is the best. Eightball and MJG have never been consistent enough to fukk with UGK or Outkast. Goodie Mob isn't even in this conversation, even though I like their music.

There are certain songs that make you fall in love with a genre, Mr Big on Comin' Out Hard was that track for me. I was like 10 or 11 when it dropped and that joint painted a vivid picture and story in my mind till this day.

It was just too real...

outkast/goodie mob was next but they always felt more "spiritual" in their work uplifting but hood and far out at the sametime.

ugk was more hood than ghetto music.

I can't really put one above the other, them joints all came in handy all at different points in my life.

And let this be said, UGK has NEVER had a weak album. I'm not counting UGK4Life because that was unreleased shyt.

To be fair it did take Eightball and MJG like 10 years to have a weak album.

I can't take nothing away from Ball & G, they are pioneers in the South. But, look at their work as a whole. I liked Living Legends, but it wasn't on par with their early shyt and everything after that ain't really worth listening to. Concerning solo albums, Lost is a classic and No More Glory is nice, but what else? I think they need to do an album produced strictly by Big K.R.I.T. IMO.
