youre too focused on sales & mainstream. you gotta be in tune with the streets.

rocafella records became popular when beans blew up, and they were the top label from '01 up until the breakup in '05.

dipset had a deal with rocafella. therefore they were apart of rocafella - their forefront four at least(cam, jones, Juelz, zeeke). just because they didn't have sleepovers at jay's house, it doesn't mean they weren't on rocafella. of course it was a business decision. that's why its called the music business.

youre the one going off of personal opinion's, not me homie. the state property movies are indeed considered hood classics. I'm not even the one that you were arguing with about that initially. and that 50 cent movie bombed bro. he had that old white man from Hollywood direct his flick and it came out lookin phony as f*ck. that chit was not wavey at all.

and g-unit was not poppin in the streets like that for all those years youre listing. they started dwindling when 50 dropped the massacre. that was '05. I could see if you were to say they were crazy popular in 02-04. throw '01 or earlier in there for new York. by '05, they still had their stans but other than that, they were hardcore pop at that point.

Yeah i was goin back & forth with someone else until you decided to @ me, so i dont see what the point was. As if i came at you about this.

Rocafella only put out 1 Dipset group album. 2 Cam'ron solo albums & 2 Santana album. Santana albums never popped like that as far as reception.

Its ironic you telling me about personal opinions when its not a FACT if something is a "hood classic" or not. Some will think it is, other wont. So its just as much your opinion & experience than mine. I base mine on what a CLASSIC is tho. A classic has an impact and puts a dent to the game and something memorable. Belly is a hood classic. State Property? Ehh, i would have to disagree.

And again when i brought up 50 cents movie it had nothing to do with the quality. You brought up business ventures as a way to say how Rocafella had the game on lock. I do the same and all of a sudden it becomes about whether or not YOU (again, personal opinion) liked the movie or not. It was still a big movie with box office hits and a major soundtrack.

And as for music quality, you honestly think Rocafella put out more piff shyt AS A COLLECTIVE than G-Unit between 2003-2005? Again, not a big G-Unit fan but still. Rocafella for damn sure aint ran to no 2005, again thats YOUR personal opinion & view of it. In 2005 when Beans put out his last great album IMO it wasnt even thru Rocafella it was thru Dame's label.

Depends on where you at breh. Plus how is that a bragging right? :dame:...cmon son...

he wasn't bragging.

it was a message to the youths.

1.) its a message board.
2.) Santana album got good reception.
3.) state property is regularly referred to as a hood classic. if you think otherwise, then that your personal opinion and I can respect it. but don't try to turn around and claim that others are basing stuff off of their personal opinions when in reality, YOURE THE ONE DOING THAT. I didn't give my opinions on the SP movies. in fact, I was disappointed with the 1st one a lil bit. but let you tell it, I'm supposedly basing this chit off my personal opinions.

4.) in regards to the 50 cent movie, it has everything to do with the quality breh. if the ninjas weren't feeling it, then it doesn't matter how much it sold. THIS IS HIP-HOP!!!!!!!
and no, I didn't bring up business ventures. I brought up rocawear in response to you claiming that nobody was dressing like them, when in reality they had the hottest urban clothing line at the time.

5.) not trying to downplay g-unit but they don't even compare to rocafella. simple mathematics solve this equation. g-unit was basically a mixtape crew with a record label. they were in competition with other mixtapes crews. TWO of the other big time crews on the mixtape circuit were signed to rocafella - state property & diplomats. that alone kills off the idea of g-unit competing with rocafella. and that's not even counting all the other acts on the roc like ya man jay-z, Kanye, bleek, etc. its not even a logical comparison.

I said 2005 is when rocafella split and that's when the run ended. I didn't say anything else.:comeon:

Not all of us act the same way my mans. It's not an honor, but making it through prison without going insane is definitely something to give yourself a pat on the back for,but you wouldn't understand because you never been inside.

Who said it wasnt a hip-hop forum? I was just bringing that up as a response to you sayin me i was originally arguin with someone else about this.

I know you said 2005, but you said Rocafella ran it UNTIL 2005 right? But in what sense? You're seriously telling me Rocafella ran it between 2003-2005 too? smh cmon now. And you telliin ME im basing it off my opinion when you doin the same dog. Like i said its obvious you grew close to that movement and thats why you feel a way about it. Its all good, but its not factual.

But Rocawear has nothing to do with "wanting to dress liek Rocafella" which is what i said to the other dude if you followed it. Rocawear was around & was just apart of Denim clothing just like Ruff Ryders did. It was just a branding deal. Its like sayin nikkas wanted to dress like Diddy & Black Rob, Loon & Mase cuz of Sean John - see how little sense that makes?

You talking LIFESTYLE now. NOBODY wanted to "dress" like Rocafella. Nobody. Rocking a BRAND called Rocawear which sold regular clothes all over had nothing to do with wanting to dress like rappers on the label. You're confusing the 2.

I'm not going by just my opinion. I'm judging by whats going on. sometimes my opinions coincide with it, and that's when I really go hard. sure. but I'm not basing this off my personal opinion. that's what YOURE doing. rocafella was clearly the hottest label from '01 thru '04.

youre not talking sense with the rocawear stuff dog. you drunk?

What i said about Rocawear makes perfect sense. You're confusing a label selling lifestyle with just a regular clothing line. Just cuz little Johnny over there or Tyrone buys a Rocawear doesnt necessarily mean they wanna "dress like the rappers". Again, like Sean John. But i see you aint responding to that point. So did "everybody" wanna dress like Bad Boy too then cuz of Sean John? You & i both know thats not true. But its all good. This discussion leads nowhere. As much as you're claiming im basing it off my opinion you're doing it just as much. You clearly is a fan &/or you have memories attached to Rocafellas run so you're being defensive (not in a emotional way tho which i respect) so you'll always feel like you'll feel.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I see what youre tryna say now, but its still not accurate.

the clothing line was just ONE example breh.

i honestly didn't read the sean john part in your previous post. that's why i didn't respond. and no, I'm not saying that rocawear was just worn by people because of rocafella. but they fueled the fire. and there was a movement behind it, unlike sean john, and it was a lot more popular than sean john. you really cant compare the two.

and yes, they sold lifestyle along with the clothes. that's another reason why it popped the way it did. just look at the state property extension of rocawear. that's lifestyle all day.

they sold lifestyle with the music too. jay-z said it himself on that uptown records documentary a couple months ago, if I'm not mistaken.

It's either me or it seems like every week somebody from The ROC...Dame, Beans, Bleek, Just Blaze, Cam, a dude from State Property...pretty much anybody not named Kanye or Jay is doing an interview talking about the breakup.
Move on already. The fans are over it. Nobody gives a fukk about The Roc breakup in 2016.

Hell, next week they'll be interviewing the janitor from the office trying to get his perspective on what happened.

Lmao at me sounding stupid. You do know what Roc a wear is do you? Thats like sayin everybody wanna dress like Bad Boy cuz Puff had Sean John. Rocawear was just part of Denim or whatever it was. It was a business & a brand collab. But it still has nothing to do with people wanting to "dress" like Rocafella artists smh.

And "throwing away jerseys & drinks" was JAY-Z, not the Rocafella camp. You're confusing the 2. And most people were still rocking those things and doing it.

And again you're confusing "poppin" with that i said. Lil Wayne rocked skinny jeans - people followed. You're just talking about people following a current popular rapper. How did it work when Jay-Z tried to make Timbs uncool in 2009? People will always follow trends with any popular celebrity (see Drake now for example). Says nothing about my point tho.

Movies? The movie Cam was in can be considered a hood classic & that was Dame's sidegig. State Property movie a hood classic? Nah, disagree.

Like i said you're clearly a fan who grew up around that and you're focus on it so clearly you're gonna feel a way, and i my way, so its pointless to go back & forth. You're gonna be biased and feel your way, and i from the outside lookin in feel my way. It is what it is.
:russ: u think people was wearing Roc A Wear because the design niqqa? Roc a Wear looked like any other hiphop clothing line. It was because Jay Z wore that shyt. thats why we all brought that shyt including u in the late 90's. i know for a fact u had atleast one piece of Roc a Wear clothing.
