It's been 20 years since this album came out
I'd completely forgotten that this album came out in 2000 until I saw an article on the 20th anniversary of this album in the new XXL magazine.

Album had a few of gems on it

I remember seeing the video for The Truth on BET Rap City and The Box daily back in the day :wow:

But Sigel on this joint! :wow:

Dope album, but I always thought his second album was his best album

I've always thought his third album, The B. Coming is his best album

Both The Truth and The Reason were huge letdowns to me.

The Truth could've had more better production on a lot of the songs. Beanie was spitting, but some of the production wasn't all that.

But The B. Coming was on point from start to finish; from the lyrics to the production.

Bought this in stores, 8th grade year. I think I bought it when "Remember Them Dayz" was a single, but I always liked Beanie Sigel, I discovered the wrenching paranoia of "Die", and the bleakness of "What Ya Life Like", plus that Jay bonus cut, "Anything" which was making the rounds in late 1999. What a time to be a kid, I keep thinking in all these "20 years ago" discussions, so I would have been 14. Just a different, different era, when cd covers and tracklistings meant everything, not memes and snap videos, and we pored over the liner notes for producers, and lyrics, and bonus tracks.

I would say he has thee near brilliant albums, with The B.Coming tipping into a true masterpeice. But, The Reason was such a great album in it's own right. They were both like 4 tracks too heavy for a real classic. The Truth has some bad beats, some poorly crafted songs, Mac Man, Star, Playa, but the rest is still all on my playlist, as of today. Who Want What, Stop Chill.

The Reason had more soul, and less grit, breathy, sample based Just Blaze and Kanye at their height, Nothing Like it, Mom Praying, What Ya Life Like 2, Still Got Love For You, but the fumbles, I Don't Do Much, Mack bytch, Watch Ya bytches,

Shame, truly, what happened to Beanie Sigel.
