Curious as to what folks on here think about them, their impact in Hip Hop and where they rank as a group?

Lol, yeah. I always wonder why they don't get talked about amongst hip hop heads...

Rank right up there with Run DMC in terms of level of importance to hip hop. They were instrumental in drawing in fans during a critical stage of the genre's growth.

They contributed greatly to the art....didnt vulture. When have you EVER heard a rapper or cohort ever say something bad about them? "Yeah, them beastie nikkas were some a$$holes mang." Never happened. Even chuck d was in love with them.

Made great music. All albums are quality (except for maybe their last one or two when they were flabby). They dropped a certified classic in Paul's Boutique. Its really an amazing album...shout out to Prince Paul.

Paul's Boutique is def one of the classics, and they greatly influenced movements that exist now where instrumentation is used..

agreed, and DJ Adrock is one of the better MCs from that era. He has one of the GOAT voices in rap history, up there with Ice Cube, Chuck D, and DMX and others, and I randomly toss in Check your head just to listen to him destroy Pass the Mic

I always go back to License To Ill as my fav release from them. Everyone says Paul's is their best though. Can't really say they've dropped a wack album though.

?? in terms of VOICE; like the way the voice sounds as an instrument, he's definitely got one of the most distinctive voices ever.

The list i posted, Redman, Ghostface, Snoop, all have great voices and DJ Adrock is up there

they're better MCs but Adrock has a GOAT voice
