Joe is a straight dummy. He tries to play neutral, not to cater to one side of an argument or another and because he really doesn't know a lot about what the guests he has on his show are talking about he is very easily swayed.

Imagine talking to someone who knows what rap music is has heard a few songs but really knows nothing about rap. To them as long as you sound confident in what you're saying you can say anything and they'll believe it.
