Before Jay Z, who was the rapper that failed/washed up rappers blamed for their careers not going the way they wanted?

Like who was the rapper that they pushed baseless conspiracy theories and claims about how they were sabotaged or blackballed about or how they coulda been XYZ if Not for said rapper?

:patrice: Obviously podcasts and YouTube channels are relatively new dominant forms of rap media but in the era of Magaiznes and radio who would people complain about to explain their failures?

Every rapper who made it big has had SOMEBODY throw that “You didn’t do such and such for me” shyt in their faces. Jay just ended up having the most out of a crew who became semi-household names so their accusations rang louder.

Cormega and Nature spent years blaming Nas for all of their problems

Wu-Tang had a bunch of infighting and the lessor acclaimed members like Masta Killah accused RZA of everything from playing favorites to sabotaging their solo efforts

Jay had/has Beanie Sigel (Gold artist) Camron (Gold-Platinum artist) Kanye West (Multi-Platinum megastar) Dame Dash (business partner) all talking shyt about him. They’re notoriety is bigger than most.

But it stands to point out that Beanie Sigel was a fukk up who couldn’t stay out of trouble and ended up losing a lung behind that street shyt.

Dame Dash never could make another Hov and has spent the later years making a living sitting around talking about the glory days he never had

Kanye West is an insane c00n who masquerades as Hitler born again

Cam retired from rapping and had to become a podcaster to get a second lease on life.

So i’d say Jay is entirely justified for staying far away from those individuals and letting them fall on their own swords.

Nobody.

Because no rapper had that level of control. Thread is just deflecting from the fact that Jay-Z weasled his way to the top of def jam and killed the label.
