Thank you!

Jay's style with Original Flava wasn't exactly thre same as his style on his earliest stuff with Jaz though.

Jaz and Jay were kinda rapping like a more sped-up Kane with the bragging battle raps and afrocentric stuff. On Can I Get Open it was more that playful early 90's almost nonsensical wordplay like Fu-Schnickens, Das EFX, L.O.N.S., Rumpletilskinz, UMCs, Lords of the Underground, etc.

Jay always adapted his style to whatever was hot. If it's cool to be an art faq hipster, he'll do it at age 40. He's like Mitt Romney. He'll be whatever you want him to be.

Although Jaz wasn't the first to do the speed rap, he was the one who kinda put it on the map in the late 80's. He fathered Chip-Fu's style of rap (he's the only one who rapped fast in the Fu Schnickens) but being that Chip was Caribbean, he added his own "chat" style to the fast rap and enhanced it ala Busta Rhymes.

I can agree with this. I don't recall anyone I can think of doing fast rap consistently before the Word to Jaz album. G Rap, Rakim, Chubb Rock, K-Solo, and Kane rapped faster than most, but they weren't really doing staccato double time rap like Jaz. Some others rapped fast at times, but Jaz made it a staple part of his flow.

The birth of fast rap. Sounds dated but hey it's from 1980.
