by another black person. How does that make you feel? Do you feel it is a term of endearment? When I was younger I'd use the word and refer it to other black men consistently. And I didn't care if another black man called me this either.
However looking back at it, using this word and being referred as a "nikka" constantly had a subconscious effect on how I perceived myself and other black men. In my mind, I and other black men were just "another nikka". It seems the constant use of this word inadvertently caused me to place a lower value for myself and other black men....at least on a subconscious level.
When most of us think of the word "nikka" nothing good really comes to mind. I personally always envisioned it as someone lazy, dumb and generally apathetic towards their own life. Yet amazingly , I didn't mind being referred to as one myself. It was all apart of the norm/culture. It was it in the music. I heard grown black men using it. I even heard black women using to it to refer to black men.
What do you guys think? Is the constant use of this word lowering our self esteem/self worth on a subconscious level? How can we as a people truly unify and rectify black pride referring to one another as a term that was historically meant to lower our self worth?

I never really said it, i was always indifferent about it. But now that im "aware", its COMPLETELY out of my vocab. I cringe everytime i have to read it here. I despise that we call ourselves that. It is embarrassing when u step back in 3rd person and assess it. The whole "term of endearment" is BS. I never hear it used that way. I often imagine a new black community made up of all like-minded people and one of the common themes is that nobody would dare refer to their fellow brother or sister as a "******":scust:
