Not that video games were for everyone but I remember we didn't get a Nintendo until like 1989 or 1990.

I think it cost like $100 back then and my mom only got it because she went half on it with one of my uncles. We only had 1 game and it was the Super Mario 1 game combo with Duck Hunt.

Maybe had the system for a few months when one of my brothers moved to DR and since he was the youngest one (of 3), my mom gave it to him. I was fukkin pissed.

Spent the next few years playing games at other friends' houses until I finally got a part time job and bought a PS1 back in like 1997. And by that point I was 17 and never in the house to play it anyway.

still grimy as fukk, but not as bad as the 80's/90's,a lot of muhfukkas got tossed on gang injunctions, for slangin, havin pit bulls, gentrification and shyt..

i'm not surprised a lot of burbs/smaller metropolitan areas got worse though, usually where these transplants end up moving&bring that hood mentality with them..with reverse white flight gentrification the bigger cities land got more valuable,so een living in the hood now has maaaad strings, especially since the Feds are taking them over&letting regular realtor types run this shyt day to day now..

the hood is only good if you can get a good "formal" education as well. nothing more dangerous than someone who's book smart and street smart.

If you born and grown in it you should be able to make the hood what you want to make it, with a bit of luck too

The hood raised me :blessed:

Living in it feels like a test within a test so of course you have to grow up stronger

It's not all good though as it's just that many more dumb muhfukkaz interacting with you with their own issues to deal with first, due to the poverty and close proximity

It sure feels like there's more freedom in the hood though than other living conditions, ironically :yeshrug:
